To be very honest with you, it’s been a while since we ate pizza so when one of our tiktok friends requested a pizza recipe from us, we were excited! Of course, we chose Hawaiian pizza because we believe pineapples belong on pizza (yes, only on our pizza, we know).

Did you know, Hawaiian pizza did not come from Hawaii?
We were as curious as you when we found out that Hawaiian pizza didn’t actually come from Hawaii! It was actually inspired from Chinese cuisine by incorporating sweet and savory flavors through the ham and pineapple combo.
This brings us to a topic we love talking about: Fusion cuisine. We’ve always questioned why is there a debate whether certain foods should exist? Taking this Hawaiian Pizza as an example, this dish was a result of appreciation of a culture and expression through cooking.
For us, cooking will always be an expression of our identity and experience, and there is always going to be a place for every food out there.
Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below! Anyway, back to this pizza…

Pizza is one of those dishes that’s surprisingly easy to make with minimal ingredients!
You probably already have most of your ingredients in your pantry except for the dry yeast but even that’s pretty easy to get your hands on. One of your childhood memories might involve sprinkling a generous amount of your favorite topping on your pizza!
Also, keep in mind that this recipe makes 4 pizzas! So, feel free to half the ingredients if you aren’t planning to host a pizza party (but we won’t judge if you decide to make 4 pizzas all for yourself because what’s the limit for pizza right?!). Or, you can also choose to make different toppings for each pizza 🙂

- First, to make the dough, we need to activate the dry yeast. In a bowl, mix ¾ cup of water, sugar and ¾ pack of the dry yeast. Then, let it rest for 5 mins.
- In a separate bowl, pour flour and add 1tsp of salt. After the yeast mixture is rested for 5 mins, pour the yeast mixture in and mix with the flour and salt.
- Next, sprinkle your counter with flour and knead the dough mixture for 8-10 minutes until soft.
- Coat the insides of your bowl with vegetable oil and transfer the dough into the bowl. Cover the top of the bowl with a cling wrap and let the dough rest for about an hour.
- After an hour, the dough should double in size. Take the dough out of the bowl and cut into four equal parts.
- Roll each part out into a circular shape (about ?? diameter) for the pizza crust. Place the rolled dough on a pizza pan.
- Next, add your favorite toppings to your taste. We used marinara sauce, mozzarella, pineapple, ham and bacon.
